Target to Activity Calculator

The calculator helps you work out how many opportunities and deals you need to hit your sales targets. You can plan either:

• By revenue → how much more you need to sell to reach your target.
• By margin (GP) → how much profit you need to generate, even if that means revenue overachieves.

• Off → the plan is driven by revenue only.
• On → the plan is driven by margin (gross profit). The calculator will overallocate wins if necessary to make sure you meet your GP target.

Deals are whole numbers – you can’t win half a deal.

• If your GP target is $500k and the smallest deal contributes $11,250, the plan might need one extra deal.
• That’s why the “Total GP” in the breakdown can be higher than your target. It ensures you hit (or beat) your goal, not fall short.

• Revenue Target → your overall sales goal for the year.
• Achievement to Date → how much you’ve already sold.
• Start/Finish Month → the fiscal period you want to plan for.
• Avg Deal Size → the typical value of a deal of this type.
• Margin % → the gross profit percentage for this deal type.
• Win Rate % → the percentage of opportunities you usually close.
• Sales Cycle (mo) → average time to close one deal.
• Mix % → the proportion of revenue or margin you expect from each deal type.

• Target vs Achieved → how much you’ve sold compared to your goal.
• Time Remaining → months left in your plan window.
• Revenue Gap → how much more revenue you need.
• Total Deals Needed → number of deals across all deal types.
• Margin Gap (if enabled) → how much GP you still need to achieve.

Opportunities are the number of deals you need to start to end up with the planned wins.

Example: if your win rate is 25% and you need 5 wins, you’ll need 20 opportunities (5 ÷ 25%).

Mix % spreads the target across Large, Medium, and Small deals.

If you don’t adjust it, the calculator assumes the default split (e.g., 40/40/20). Adjust it if your pipeline is weighted differently.

For now, the calculator uses 3 buckets: Large, Medium and Small Deals. You can rename them in your head (e.g., Enterprise / SMB / Transactional).

• You’ll receive your ROI report via email once you submit.

The calculator is designed for work planning, so only business domains are accepted (e.g.,@company.co.nz). This ensures the report is relevant and professional.

This is a planning tool, not an exact forecast.

• It works on averages: deal size, win rate, margin.
• Real-world results vary, but it gives you a reliable starting point for activity planning.

If you don’t adjust it, the calculator assumes the default split (e.g., 40/40/20). Adjust it if your pipeline is weighted differently.

• Double-check your win rates and average deal sizes.
• Make sure the mix % adds up to 100.
• If tracking margin, check your Margin % inputs.
